A friend of mine compared gambling, more specifically sports bets, to playing the stock market. Giving it a little thought, you need to say he’s right. The stock market is a world of ups and downs where virtual stocks depend on the performance of its mother companies for their value. Sports teams and franchises also depend on the performance of their individual players to keep their value up.

But that’s not where the big parallel between sports bets and the stock market lies. Let’s look at the example of baseball. Baseball betting goes a long way further and is dependent on a lot of extra-match factors. Just like a certain stock can go up or down in value because of news and events surrounding the specific company, most of them not affecting its performance whatsoever, news around baseball also affect, sometimes greatly affect, a team’s performance.

That’s why, just like when you’re betting on the stock market you need to keep an eye on financial news, if you’re betting on baseball you need to keep an eye – sometimes two – on the media circus surrounding the game. A player’s lack – or increase – of performance can be due to a specific increase in his physical shape or game ability, but it can also be due to comments his manager or coach made on the media. Keep all of these factors in mind when considering where to put your betting money and soon you’ll realize that it’s whatever surrounds the game that sometimes makes the difference.

I used to be one of those people who thought gambling was a waste of time. Not necessarily a bad habit or a waste of money like some people seem to look at it, just thought there were better things to do with my time. There was something about casinos that was a real turn-off to me, and friends I knew that played poker seemed to use it more as an excuse to smoke and drink together – and be away from their families – than out of the pleasure of doing it. Not that I didn’t want to spend time with them, I just couldn’t stand the smoke – call me squeamish.

But I’ve always been someone that liked to spend some time in front of the computer, either surfing the Web or playing games. From that to putting the two together and playing online games was just a small step, naturally. The concept of playing something within a community of World players that I could relate to and that were, of course, much tougher opponents than a computer’s AI was an excellent change from what I was used to, and quickly got me hooked.

Then one day I saw a popup for a free online poker tournament and said “why not?” You could play with free chips, it was just for fun – something like a trial period to see if you liked it before putting money into it. And I did like it, especially the chance to be also able to chat with the people playing. Online poker games are now something that I play often and I really enjoy myself.

Thing you should do and things you should not do, that line fits with many things in our lives and gambling is one of them. Here you will find things that you most certainly do when it comes to gambling.
Before you begin, set a budget and keep with that amount, when you have it that limit, do yourself a favor and quit. Another thing you must do it watch how the dealer places your bet, they can make mistakes too, they are only human. That feeling you get when you win is great and leaving when you are ahead is the thing to do. Maybe you have lost your limit and you remain in the casino but are seeing other winning big money. It is better for you to leave the casino as you mood will only get worse if you remain.
Whether you are losing or winning, it is best to keep a low profile.
If you are going to gamble online, then be sure you have done your homework and understand the rules. Educate yourself so you know what you are doing. Be sure you have chosen a reputable online casino as your risk of a scam will be lowered. Be sure you are OK with money management and if you suspect you are becoming addicted to gambling, seek help.

There are always the yes and the no of every thing we do and gambling is no exception. This is the list of things you should not do so take a look and see if you can help yourself by maybe not doing something that is on this list. First of all, don’t be afraid to bet.
If is never a good idea to drink and gamble and if you are feeling tired, that is a sign that gambling is not something that you should be doing at that time. Don’t raise your bets in a pursuit of trying to win back some of your losses and a casino is no place to try to impress someone will betting more than your wallet says you can afford.
Another don’t is, don’t be greedy because if you lost what you had just won, then consider yourself a greedy person. Generally, people set a time for which to spend time gambling, so when you have met that limit, don’t stay any longer. When you do make the great win, don’t let that winning give you the idea that it was easy, it may feel that way but it never is and never bet more than you can afford and this stands true when you are playing a game you are new at.

A boxman is actually a person and could be your most important relationship you can have in your chosen casino. The good boxperson will notice the serious players and then give them a playing card so their gaming action can be tracked. With the card you can gain full comps for the time you are playing at that casino.
The boxperson will track data of your beginning and ongoing playing of games and will also track your average wagers. If is from this information that you will be offered the courtesies that your casino can give you. If you happen to have a spouse or other partner, your cards can be combined as this will give you comps in quicker time.
Another benefit of knowing your boxperson is that they can let dealers know to give you the appropriate service and also information about the game you are playing. You can also gain advantages when tax time comes around and that can make a big difference if you have had a big score while at this casino. The serious players will know their boxperson by name and return to that casino to take advantage of the comps offered there.

The most famous blackjack player ever has got to be Ken Uston. He and his blackjack team pulled millions from the black jack table of Las Vegas before they was detected. Ken did more than invent playing techniques, he was also a Jazz musician, author, instructor and gambling raconteur. He graduated with honors from Yale and by the age of thirty one was bringing in $42,000 annually, plus benefits, as a Senior VP of the Pacific Coast Stock Exchange.
He became a professional blackjack player after he left the corporate world although it was not him who created that blackjack team that he was part of. It was Ed Thorp who did that as he organized a team in the mid 1970s in the San Francisco area. Ken did write about this fantastic team in his book called The Big Player, but it is out of print and hard to find.
A word of advice from Kenny was that is you make a decision to do something, then do it well and do it right. If blackjack is your choice, then learn your method till you have a error level of zero. Practice and practice with your method through many sessions and then go to the casinos. Kenny strives for excellence and so should everyone else.
